This website is based on an exhibition in the Department of Typography & Graphic Communication, University of Reading, from 18 September to 8 December 2017.

The exhibition and this online presentation draw attention to the two main approaches to the collection, study, display, and cataloguing of ephemera,

– subjects or themes (e.g. Railways, Temperance, Wind power);
– objects or physical artefacts (e.g. Trade cards, Notices, Volvelles).
